Description

Product Description: Vasopressin Injection is a pharmaceutical preparation containing synthetic vasopressin, a hormone that regulates fluid balance and blood pressure in the body. It is indicated for various medical conditions where vasopressor support is necessary, including septic shock, vasodilatory shock, and diabetes insipidus. This injection is formulated to provide rapid onset of action and precise control over vasopressor effects.

Indications and Usage: Vasopressin Injection is indicated for the treatment of vasodilatory shock states, such as septic shock or vasodilatory shock refractory to conventional therapy. It is also used in the management of diabetes insipidus, in cases where desmopressin is not effective or not available. Additionally, it may be used during cardiac arrest as an adjunctive therapy to improve coronary perfusion.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Vasopressin Injection varies depending on the patient's condition, weight, and response to therapy. It is administered via intravenous infusion under the supervision of a healthcare professional. The infusion rate should be titrated to achieve the desired hemodynamic effect while minimizing the risk of adverse reactions.

Dosage Forms and Strengths: Vasopressin Injection is available as a sterile solution in single-dose vials. Each mL of solution contains vasopressin synthetic, equivalent to 20 units of vasopressin.

Contraindications: Vasopressin Injection is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to vasopressin or any of the excipients. It should not be used in patients with coronary artery disease or other conditions where increases in blood pressure could be detrimental, such as peripheral vascular disease or Raynaud's syndrome.

Warnings and Precautions: Administration of Vasopressin Injection requires careful monitoring of the patient's cardiovascular status, including blood pressure, heart rate, and urine output. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of cardiac arrhythmias or ischemic heart disease, as it may exacerbate these conditions. Rapid administration or high doses may lead to severe hypertension, myocardial ischemia, or arrhythmias.

Adverse Reactions/Side Effects: Common adverse reactions associated with Vasopressin Injection include hypertension, peripheral vasoconstriction, bradycardia, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Rare but serious adverse reactions may include cardiac arrhythmias, myocardial ischemia, or hyponatremia. If any adverse reactions occur, the infusion should be discontinued, and appropriate medical treatment initiated.

Drug Interactions: Vasopressin Injection may potentiate the effects of other vasopressor agents or medications that affect blood pressure or cardiac function, such as beta-blockers or calcium channel blockers. Concurrent use with tricyclic antidepressants or MAOIs may increase the risk of severe hypertension. Close monitoring is recommended when administering vasopressin with other vasoactive drugs.

Use In Specific Populations Description: The safety and efficacy of Vasopressin Injection in pediatric patients, geriatric patients, and pregnant or lactating women have not been established. Use with caution in these populations, and only if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Close monitoring is recommended in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.

How Supplied/Storage and Handling: Vasopressin Injection is supplied as a sterile solution in single-dose vials. It should be stored at controlled room temperature between 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F), protected from light. Do not freeze. Discard any unused portion of the solution.
