Description

Product Description: Frusemide Injection is a sterile solution containing furosemide, a loop diuretic used to treat fluid retention (edema) associated with congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis, kidney disease, and other medical conditions. It works by increasing urine production, thereby reducing excess fluid and relieving symptoms of fluid overload.

Indications and Usage: Frusemide Injection is indicated for the treatment of edema associated with congestive heart failure, liver disease, renal impairment, and other conditions where excessive fluid accumulation occurs. It may also be used to manage hypertension (high blood pressure) when oral therapy is not feasible.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Frusemide Injection depends on the severity of the condition being treated, as well as the patient's response to therapy. It is typically administered intravenously at a rate not exceeding 4 mg per minute to avoid ototoxicity. The initial dose and frequency of administration should be determined by a healthcare professional based on the individual patient's needs.

Dosage Forms and Strengths: Frusemide Injection is available as a sterile solution in vials for intravenous or intramuscular administration. It is commonly supplied in various strengths, typically ranging from 10 mg/mL to 100 mg/mL.

Contraindications: Frusemide Injection is contraindicated in patients with anuria (absence of urine production), severe electrolyte depletion (e.g., hypokalemia, hyponatremia), and hypersensitivity to furosemide or any component of the formulation. It should also be avoided in patients with hepatic coma or pre-coma associated with liver cirrhosis.

Warnings and Precautions: Use caution when administering Frusemide Injection to patients with impaired renal function, electrolyte imbalances, or hepatic impairment. Monitor serum electrolytes, renal function, and blood pressure regularly during therapy. Avoid rapid infusion to minimize the risk of ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity.

Adverse Reactions/Side Effects: Common adverse reactions associated with Frusemide Injection may include electrolyte imbalances (e.g., hypokalemia, hyponatremia), dehydration, hypotension, dizziness, and gastrointestinal upset. Rarely, ototoxicity, nephrotoxicity, and allergic reactions may occur.

Drug Interactions: Frusemide Injection may interact with other medications that affect renal function or electrolyte balance, such as lithium, other diuretics, and nephrotoxic drugs. Concurrent use with ototoxic medications may increase the risk of hearing loss. Use caution and monitor patients closely when administering concomitant therapy.

Use In Specific Populations Description: Safety and efficacy of Frusemide Injection in pediatric patients, pregnant women, and nursing mothers have not been established. Use caution and consult with a healthcare professional before administering to individuals in these populations.

How Supplied/Storage and Handling: Frusemide Injection is supplied as a sterile solution in vials for intravenous or intramuscular administration. It should be stored at controlled room temperature (20°C to 25°C) away from light and moisture. Care should be taken to ensure proper storage and handling to maintain the integrity of the product. Unused portions should be discarded according to standard procedures for biohazardous waste.
