Description

Product Description: Amoxicillin Injection is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used for the treatment of various bacterial infections. It belongs to the class of antibiotics known as penicillins and is effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Amoxicillin Injection provides a valuable therapeutic option for patients with respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and other bacterial infections.

Indications and Usage: Amoxicillin Injection is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible organisms, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and bacterial endocarditis prophylaxis. It is particularly useful in the treatment of infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Escherichia coli.

Dosage and Administration: Dosage and administration of Amoxicillin Injection should be determined by a qualified healthcare professional based on factors such as the severity of the infection, the patient's age and weight, renal function, and the susceptibility of the causative bacteria. It is typically administered intravenously over a period of 30 to 60 minutes.

Dosage Forms and Strengths: Amoxicillin Injection is available as a sterile powder for reconstitution in vials containing various strengths, typically ranging from 250 mg to 1 gram per vial.

Contraindications: Amoxicillin Injection is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to amoxicillin or any component of the formulation. It should not be used in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics, such as penicillins and cephalosporins.

Warnings and Precautions: Serious hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, have been reported with the use of amoxicillin. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of allergies, asthma, or other allergic conditions. Prolonged use may result in the overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi. Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea has been reported with the use of nearly all antibacterial agents, including amoxicillin.

Adverse Reactions/Side Effects: Common adverse reactions associated with amoxicillin include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and rash. Serious adverse reactions may include severe allergic reactions, nephrotoxicity, and hepatotoxicity.

Drug Interactions: Amoxicillin may interact with other medications, including oral contraceptives, which may reduce their effectiveness. Concurrent use with other drugs that affect liver function may increase the risk of hepatotoxicity.

Use In Specific Populations Description: Safety and efficacy of Amoxicillin Injection in pediatric patients, pregnant women, and nursing mothers have been established through clinical studies and extensive post-marketing surveillance. However, caution should be exercised when administering to these populations, and the potential risks and benefits should be carefully considered.

How Supplied/Storage and Handling: Amoxicillin Injection is supplied as a sterile powder in single-dose vials. It should be stored at controlled room temperature (20°C to 25°C) and protected from light. Reconstituted solutions should be used immediately or stored under refrigeration for up to 24 hours.
